Harry Potter Wizarding World opens today and guess what we're doing...
If you haven't already heard, the much-anticipated moment of the year is finally here for Harry Potter fans around the world. Today is the grand opening of Universal's Wizarding World of Harry Potter in Orlando, Florida!
This is where you would expect the OOM team to be jumping up and down for joy and making sure we all packed enough sunblock to protect us for the adventures we're going to embark on at Wizarding World. We'd tell you about how we elbowed down other Muggles to be the first in line to taste the delicious butterbeer. But sadly, as I've learned in my adult life: Life isn't always fair.
Sadly, we aren't at Wizarding World today. We're blogging right now instead of flying on pseudo-magical broomsticks. So, instead of giving you a first-hand recap of the new ride and excitement of the Wizarding World, we give you this...
THINGS WE ARE DOING INSTEAD OF BEING AT HP WIZARDING WORLD:
Tyler:
-Trying to figure out if the rumors are true: that you can travel by floo powder between Scholastic headquarters and HP Wizarding World
-Re-reading Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows (literally, I am)
Amanda:
-Drinking a root beer and pretending its butterbeer
-Touching everything in the office – there’s gotta be a portkey around here somewhere!
Morgan:
- Writing a letter to World Cup officials to ask if they can introduce a Golden Snitch into the final game, just to make it more magical
- Following the #wizardingworld Twitter conversation so I can pretend I’m there with them
Ivy:
- Thinking about how infuriated Lord Voldemort would be if he knew the number of Muggles infiltrating the Wizarding World today
- Controlling my jealousy of one of our Scholastic Kid Reporters, who will be there this weekend, and that they didn't send me as a fake Kid Reporter. I'm not that tall!
